आत्म कथा -भाग 20

 बेगम का दिल आज भी है सुरक्षित

बाघिन रानी उर्फ बेगम की मौत की खबर इलाके में आग की तरह फैली। उसके अंतिम दर्शन के लिए आसपास के गांव के लोगों का हुजूम उमड़ पड़ा। आशंका व्यक्त किया जा रहा था कि किसी शिकारी के द्वारा उसे मार दिया गया है। अथवा उसे जहर दे दिया गया है। स्थिति स्पष्ट नहीं हो पा रही थी। वन विभाग के पदाधिकारी कुछ भी कहने से परहेज कर रहे थे। उसे पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेजा गया। रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक कारण प्राकृतिक मौत ही माना गया। मैं बेगम की मौत पर विचलित हो गया था। उसका इतने दिनों तक का साथ रहने के बाद एक दम से सदा के लिए बिछड़ जाना मुझे व्यथित कर रहा था। उसकी हर यादें मेरे साथ जुड़ी हुई थी।लेकिन मैंने तो अपने आंगन  में कई जीवों को इस दुनिया से अलविदा होते देखा था। मुझे एक बार फिर से अपने हृदय पर पत्थर रखना पड़ा।उस समय के वन विभाग के पदाधिकारियों के द्वारा एक बढ़िया फैसला लिया गया। तय किया गया कि जो म्यूजियम है उसमें बेगम के महत्वपूर्ण अंगों को सुरक्षित रखा जाएगा। पोस्टमार्टम के बाद उसके दिल, फेफड़ा , किडनी आदि को निकाला गया और उसे केमिकल के साथ एक डब्बे में बंद कर म्यूजियम में सुरक्षित रख दिया गया। जिसे आज भी देखा जा सकता है। बात जब म्यूजियम की चली है तो मुझे याद आ रहा है कि आज जिस म्यूजियम को आप देखते हैं वह पहले रेंजर ऑफिस के पास हुआ करता था। पलामू टाइगर रिजर्व की स्थापना के बाद आसपास में जो भी जीव जंतु मरे उनके अवशेष को केमिकल के सहायता से म्यूजियम में रखा गया। एक बाघिन की सिर आज भी आप देख सकते हैं। जो पूर्व में ही बेतला लाया गया था। 1978 में एक बाघिन की मौत हुई थी ।उसके स्केल्टन( कंकाल)को बेतला में रखा गया है। पलामू के पाटन में एक बाघ को मारा गया था। उसके स्केल्टन व शरीर के महत्वपूर्ण अंगों को भी म्यूजियम में रखा गया है। आज उस म्यूजियम का नाम बदलकर प्रकृति व्याख्यान केंद्र सह संग्रहालय रखा गया है। इसका उद्घाटन 1993 में ही तत्कालीन बिहार के महामहिम राज्यपाल ए.आर.किदवई के द्वारा किया गया था। यह भी देखने लायक है। मेरे आंगन में जो कोई भी पार्क का भ्रमण करने आता है वह म्यूजियम को  देखना नहीं भूलता है। यहां मेरे आंगन की एक मॉडल प्रस्तुत की गई है। जिसे आप जब चाहें देख सकते हैं। मेरे पार्क में क्या है ?मेरा अतीत क्या था? .... जारी।

Autobiography - Part 20

Begum's heart is still safe today

 The news of the death of tigress queen alias Begum spread like fire in the area.  People from nearby villages gathered for his last visit.  It was feared that he had been killed by a hunter.  Or it has been poisoned.  The situation was not clear.  Forest department officials were avoiding saying anything.  He was sent for postmortem.  According to the report, the cause was considered to be natural death.  I was distracted on Begum's death.  After being with her for so many days, she was upset forever and I was upset.  Every memory of him was associated with me, but I had seen many creatures in my courtyard being bid farewell to this world.  I had to put a stone on my heart once again. A good decision was taken by the officials of the Forest Department at that time.  It was decided that the important organs of the Begum would be kept safe in the museum.  After the post-mortem, his heart, lungs, kidneys etc. were removed and he was kept in a box with chemical and kept in a museum.  Which can still be seen today.  When the talk of the museum is over, I can remember that the museum you see today used to be near the Ranger office.  After the establishment of the Palamu Tiger Reserve, the remains of all living creatures in the vicinity were kept in the museum with the help of chemical.  You can still see the head of a tigress.  Which was brought to Betla earlier.  A tigress was killed in 1978. Her skelton (skeleton) is kept at Betla.  A tiger was killed in Palamu's Patan.  His skelton and important body parts are also kept in the museum.  Today the museum has been renamed as Nature Lecture Center cum Museum.  It was inaugurated only in 1993 by the then Governor of Bihar, AR Kidwai.  It is also worth seeing.  Anyone who comes to visit the park in my courtyard does not forget to see the museum.  Here is a model of my courtyard.  Which you can see whenever you want.  What's in my park?
