आत्म कथा -भाग 21

जाने कहां.. गए वो दिन... कहते थे तेरी राह में ... नज़रों को हम बिछाएंगे...चाहे कहीं भी तुम रहो... चाहेंगे तुमको उम्र भर... तुमको न भूल पाएंगे... याद आया यह गीत। जी हां आपने सही बताया फिल्म मेरा नाम जोकर, मुकेश कुमार साहब का गाया मशहूर गीत। मुझे बेगम की मौत के बाद बरबस याद आता रहा।बेगम की याद न केवल मेरे बल्कि लोगों के दिलों में भी बनी हुई थीं। आपको यह जानकर ताज्जुब होगा कि बेगम के बाद कोई भी बाघ स्थाई रूप से मेरे आंगन में रहना पसंद नहीं किया। हालांकि दो बाघों का लोकेशन 2005 तक मिलता रहा।बाघ बाघिन आते तो थे लेकिन मेहमान की तरह। कुछ दिन इधर उधर घूमते रहते थे ।जानवरों का शिकार करते थे। कभी-कभी मवेशियों पर भी हमला कर दिया करते थे। और फिर दूसरे क्षेत्र के लिए रवाना हो जाते थे। मतलब यह कहना अतिशयोक्ति नहीं होगा कि अब बाघ घुमंतू हो गए थे। एक जगह से दूसरी जगह जाना उन्हें अच्छा लगने लगा था। तभी मेरे आंगन में तो कभी पलामू टाइगर रिजर्व के किसी अन्य क्षेत्र में। कभी छत्तीसगढ़ या ओडिसा या अन्य दूसरे राज्यों में उनका आना-जाना होने लगा। मेरे पास एक ऐसी चीज थी जो अन्यत्र प्रदेशों में रहने वाले बाघो को खींच लाती थी। उसके लालच में बाघ मेरे यहां रुकने के लिए विवश हो जाते थे। मालूम है वह क्या था? मैं बताता हूं -सांबर। (मेरा मतलब दक्षिण भारत का एक प्रसिद्ध व्यंजन सांभर नहीं)मेरे जंगल में हिरण (चीतल) के अलावे बहुतों की संख्या में सांबर थे । सांबर जिसे स्थानीय लोग बड़ा हिरण कहते थे ,बाघों का काफी प्रिय शिकार है। बाघों को सांबर का शिकार करना और उन्हें मार कर खाना काफी आनंद देता है। वैसे बाघों को तेंदुआ, जंगली सूअर आदि का भी शिकार काफी पसंद है। मतलब सांभर खाने की इच्छा लेकर मेरे जंगल में बाघ आते थे और जब उन्हें सांभर मिलता था तो रुक जाते थे अन्यथा वे वापस चले जाते थे। इधर स्थिति बदलने लगा था। शिकारियों का कहर जारी हो गया था। शिकारियों ने बड़े पैमाने पर हिरन, सांबर ,जंगली सूअर ,मोर सहित अन्य जंगली जानवरों का शिकार करना शुरू कर दिया। शिकारी बेखौफ जंगल में घुस जाते थे। और शिकार करके वापस लौट जाते थे ।मैं काफी दुखी रहने लगा। उस समय मेरे आंगन में हजारों हिरण(चीतल) थे । सांभर थे। सैकड़ों की संख्या में जंगली सूअर थे।  मोर थे। कई  तेंदुआ थे। जारी...

The memory of Begum was not only in me but also in the hearts of people.  You would be surprised to know that no tiger after Begum chose to stay permanently in my courtyard.  Although the location of two tigers continued till 2005, the tiger tigers used to come but as guests.  Used to roam around there for a few days and used to hunt the animals.  Sometimes they even attacked cattle.  And then proceeded to another area.  It would not be an exaggeration to say that now the tigers became nomadic.  He felt good to move from one place to another.  Only then in my courtyard, sometimes in another area of ​​Palamu Tiger Reserve.  Sometimes they started coming to Chhattisgarh or Odisha or other states.  I had one thing that pulled the tigers living in other areas.  In his greed, the tiger used to force me to stay here.  Do you know what that was?  I tell you - Sambar.  (I do not mean sambar, a famous South Indian dish) In my forest, there were a large number of sambars in addition to deer (chital).  The sambar, which the locals used to call the big deer, is a very favorite prey of tigers.  The tigers hunt sambar and eat them and enjoy them.  By the way, tigers also like hunting leopard, wild boar etc.  Means tigers used to come to my forest with the desire to eat sambar and when they got sambar they would stop otherwise they used to go back.  The situation had started changing here.  The poacher's havoc was released.  The poachers started hunting other wild animals including deer, sambar, wild boar, peacock on a large scale.  The hunters used to sneak into the wilderness.  And used to go back hunting. I started feeling very sad.  At that time there were thousands of deer (chital) in my courtyard.  Sambhar was there.  There were hundreds of wild boar.  There were peacocks.  There were many leopards.  Ongoing...
