Information about BETLA NATIONAL PARK




Nestled in the Deccan Plateau, the Betla National Park includes 1,026 sq km of Palamau Tiger Reserve (one of the first nine tiger reserves to be established in India in the year 1974), an additional area of 226 sq km that was added in 1989 and the 63 sq km of the Mahuadar Wolf Sanctuary. The world’s first tiger census took place here in the year 1932. In fact, Betla is one of the first national parks to come under Project Tiger. THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Interestingly, Betla is an acronym for bison, elephant, tiger, leopard and axis-axis (latin name for spotted deer). Situated in the northwest of the state, this national park offers excellent opportunites for observing wildlife. The roads are well-maintained and wildlife sightings are frequent despite pockets of thick foliage with visibility less than 10 m. Do try the elephant safari (₹ 1000 per hour/4 person).
Animals that can be spotted here include elephants, gaurcheetal, sloth bears, mouse deer, pangolins, four-horned antelopes, sambar, civets, wolves and the tiger. Betla also boasts about 174 bird species, including owls and drongos.
Apart from exploring the park, visitors can plan a trip to the 468-ft high Lodh Falls, situated 95 km south of the park in Mahuadar. Also keep aside half a day to visit the ruins of the Chero Kings’ Fort situated 5.5 km off Betla, at 400 ft.
In terms of accommodation, the Forest Rest House at Betla, Maromar and Baresand are your options. For reservations, contact website www.palamautigerreserve.com and book online. TIP Betla Village is the only entry point to the park. From October-February, vehicles can be hired from Betla. In the off-season it’s best to depend on Ranchi (taxi ₹ 500 plus fuel). On your return journey you can stop by Netrahat (124km from Betla), a quaint hill station

"बेतला राष्ट्रीय उद्यान" यह झारखंड का एक मात्र राष्ट्रीय उद्यान है। यह झारखंड का आन बान शान है। यह छोटा नागपुर पठार के पलामू प्रमण्डल के लातेहार जिला में अवस्थित है। इस पार्क में बहुत सारे वन्य प्राणी पाए जाते है ।बेतला का नाम ही वन्य प्राणियों के नाम पर रखा गया है। BETLA means , B-: Bison, E-: Elephant, T-: Tiger, L-: Leopard, A-: Axis-Axis (deer)  होता है । यह पार्क बाघों के लिए चर्चित है। यह पलामू ब्याघ्र परियोजना का एक हिस्सा है ।पलामू ब्याघ्र परियोजना का क्षेत्रफल 1026 km² का है। इसके अलावे 226 km² का क्षेत्रफल 1989 में जोड़ा गया है तथा 63km² का क्षेत्रफल महुआडांड़ भेड़िया अभयारण्य का है । जो सबसे पहले ब्याघ्र परियोजना चलाया गया था बेतला उनमे से एक है। इस पार्क का प्रबंधन वन विभाग के द्वारा किया जाता है।

"Betla National Park" This is the only national park in Jharkhand.  This is the pride of Jharkhand.  It is located in Latehar district of Palamu division of Chota Nagpur plateau.  Lots of wildlife are found in this park. Betla itself is named after the wildlife.  BETLA means, B-: Bison, E-: Elephant, T-: Tiger, L-: Leopard, A-: Axis-Axis (deer).  This park is popular for tigers.  It is a part of the Palamu Byghar project. The area of ​​Palamu Byghar project is 1026 km².  Apart from this, an area of ​​226 km² has been added in 1989 and an area of ​​63km² is that of Mahuadand Wolf Sanctuary.  Betla was one of the first to run the first project.  The park is managed by the Forest Department.
